Reports from the Suedewalk 2 here...

5th July 2006
Following the rather unexpected success of Suedewalk 1, Suedewalks (TM) is mildly chuffed to present "Suedewalk 2 - Walk Further" this coming Sunday, 9th July. In contrast to the first walk's urban nuclear motorway theme, this one has a Victorian Gothic tinge taking in the Munsters-like Mansion where Dog Man Star was conceived, the cemetery which inspired Dracula - and where Zoe Ball once influenced a "slightly under the weather" Brett & Bernard, the house in the Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle where Suede's singing tutor Tona de Bret was supposed to live (though actually she didn't), the pub outside which Ruth Ellis shot her lover* and the venue where Suede's live career began. Oh, and the trees from which Brett was too Siamese to catch the leaves. Perhaps you can do better?

Kick off at 12 noon in the Boogaloo on the corner of Shepherd's Hill and Archway Road, next to Highgate underground station. The walk will last approx 3-4 hours and will finish near either Belsize Park or Kentish Town tube stations depending on heat exhaustion/drunkenness.

*Not a great deal of Suedey significance here although of course in the film, Dance With A Stranger, Ruth was played by Miranda Richardson who starred alongside Gabriel Glaister in Blackadder who in turn went to see Richard Oakes' first UK gig at the Raw Club in 94. Golly!

Refugees from the still-existent Suede world rejoiced last night as the world premiere of the upcoming The Tears single, Refugees, was aired on BBC's Steve Lamacq show. The song hit bullseye of fans' expectations by sounding like a perfect mixture of Suede and Butler's solo stuff of recent years. If you missed it, tune in to Xfm radio today from 4pm GMT. Check out xfm.co.uk for more info.
The single will be released on April 18, 2005, followed by their debut album shortly after.

>> regular "where are they now?" update
Brett and Bernard are hard at work introducing their new band The Tears right now. You can follow their journey at their official website.

Simon plays with a Thai band called Futon, as recently spotted in MTV Asia Aid on February 2 2005. The show itself, held in Thailand, was a transformed version of the annual MTV Asia Awards ceremony, due to the recent tsunami tragedy in Asia.

Also still in the light of the tsunami, Alex Lee played a short set with Patrick Duff at the Tsunami Appeal Gig at the Bristol Carling Academy on Saturday 19th February. The gig was aired on a live webcast, where people could pay 4.50 pounds to watch, and the money will go to the appeal. More details at www.crisisinasia.com
Alex and Patrick will also play the WOMAD festivals in Australia 4-6 March and New Zealand 11-13 March, preceding Patrick's solo album which was produced by Alex himself with Portishead's Adrian Utley.

Mat Osman in the meantime played bass as a special guest musician for the debut album of new London band called Mista Brown. The album is still being processed at the moment.
