about the cover art of dog man star The cover pictures were taken from Joanne Leonard's work featuring her own husband that
was taken in 1971 after they split up. The original photographs (front and back covers) can be
found in a book titled Frontiers Of Photography, published by Time Life Books in 1972. The
photo used in Dog Man Star's front cover is called "Sad Dreams in Cold Mornings" while the
other one is titled "Lost Dreams". If you pay attention to the back cover, you will find a
picture of Joanne and her husband on the wall. Brett got these pictures from a book
he had for a long time, and he said, "It was one of the things I brought to the band where
everybody went 'Ah, that's the one!'".Brett refused that he intentionally made controversy by featuring a semi-naked man in the cover. He said if he did, they would've put the original cover design. It was from the One Hundred And Twenty Days in Sodom featuring a naked man with a dog collar.
